Unusually Shitty Government
Well, as some may know, I managed to get fairly heavily involved in one of the campaigns for the presidency of USG, backing a former classmate by the name of Dave Knapp. The general consensus around campus is that USG is inept, clueless, and for most purposes worthless, though I believe that Dave is the sort of guy who could actually change some of that. The election cycle has only served to satisfy the cynic, as Knapp/Gent got DQ'd twice over a quibble in an interpretation of the rules, Fournikate (incompetent even by USG standards) is now being busted for numerous violations, and the most amazing part is that nobody really has to play by the rules anyways, as Judicial Affairs is standing by to overturn any disqualification. Adding to the drama is the manner in which the release of the results keeps getting pushed back. It'll be interesting to see how it all turns out, but if Chuck Norris to win with the write in vote, even that wouldn't surprise me.
Check out The Sentinel's USG Watch blog here, if you feel an odd compunction to read more. The comment wars in particular tend to be amusing.
UPDATE: The Judicial Panel of USG decided to mandate that the entire Results Coalition and Students First Slates must spend a minimum of two hours cleaning up trash of campus. Way to go USG. It almost seems anti-climactic.
