The Beautiful Game
I've not written here in a while, but I thought I'd plug the upcoming World Cup. I've fallen in love with soccer at its highest levels because there's so much passion, and the game is truly wonderful to watch. The creativity of the best players is simply astounding, and the American side has a shot to do something amazing starting June 12 at noon, with their match against the Czech Republic. Soccer has been decried as a sissy sport for years, but there's more contact in a match of soccer than a season of baseball. The athletes are in incredible shape. The sport doesn't have the same respect level of the triumvirate of American sports here, but there's a reason the rest of the world loves the game. As such, I'm encouraging you to watch the Yanks take on the world starting in 7 days. You won't be disappointed.

I quite agree--soccer is such an amazing sport! I've developped a new appreciation for it here; the Europeans eat, sleep, and breathe "football." We went to Munich this past weekend, which was pretty awesome given that Sweden played Germany IN Munich on Saturday.... Heh. The energy of it all--being there and cheering with all the decked-out fans and knowing that the match was being held basically down the street--was incredible. Anyhow, I hope your summer is going well so far and enjoy the rest of the World Cup! (Even if the US didn't quite make it... maybe next time!)
I just came across your blog and have found it quite interesting to read. Any plans to start writing again?
